Sticky keys on Mac (or Windows) temporarily remembers function keys pressed in order to complete key commands. For instance if I want to force quit applications on my Mac I need to press Command + Option + Escape. With sticky keys enabled I can press them in sequence, rather than all at once to achieve the command.
