Well, "A" students find it easier and probably get noticed for advanced training or positions others won't get. I had technical training on a particular subject matter, made 100% on the test, they selected me for a special school that required secret clearances, etc. I aced that school too and opportunities opened up i knew nothing about. Later i went back to a University and got a masters in that subject matter. So just excel if you can and watch what happens.
