In general an organic compound is any compound that contains a carbon bonded to a hydrogen. Thats it. There are a multitude of different types of organic compounds, but the simplest definition is any compound with a C-H bond. With the different types of organic compounds they can have a wide range of characteristics, so it may be hard to go into a specific answer without narrowing down the type of organic compound (also known as functionality or functional group).
