Free software to create a score from scratch?

What open source softwares are available for creating a music score? I have Logic X but I don't think it's geared well for that kind of thing.

I agree. Noteflight is great for smaller works that have a simple structure. Be aware that all the storage is in the cloud, and you will be limited to certain export forms.

Musescore does not have those limitations, and allows for more complex notation structures and more export formats.

You're right, Logic is not primarily notation software.

Depending on how complicated your notation needs are, you might do fine with either Noteflight or MuseScore. Those are the two that seem to have the most traction. They're both online systems.
