Revisions to the Declaration of Independence were made by committee members, Congress, and Jefferson himself. One revision took out a long paragraph where Jefferson accussed King George III of being solely responsible for the slave trade in the North American colonies. However, despite all of these revisions and being "written by committee," Jefferson is still considered the primary author, as he was a) tasked by Congress to do so and b) did most of the writing.
