I would say Reconstruction, the Progressive Movement and Civil Rights Movement.
The Reconstruction Era and Amendments led to the federal government intervening in the Southern states. Forcing states to follow laws. It would also be the 14th Amendment that would lead to incorporation theory that would effectively overrule Marshall’s ruling on Barron v. Baltimore 18833 with the Giltow v New York 1921.
The Progressive Movement would see beginning of the FDA, as meat factories were exposed in The Jungle by Sinclair. It also led to labor laws protecting child, establishing what a work week was, and building standards such as fire escape and etc. (Tri-Shirt factory fire).
Civil Rights Movement saw the passage of the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act. Both of which undermined States’ rights, whether we agree or disagree with what the States were doing was right or wrong. Those laws allowed for federal intervention on the States on matters which were specifically designated as a state’s power, ie making congressional districts.
