2 ancient armies are 1km apart and begin walking towards each other. The vikons walk at a pace of 3km/h and the Mohicas walk at a pace of 4km/h. For how long will they walk before the battle begins?

Answer 1

t = walking time (same for both)

v = Vicons speed = 3 km/h

u = Mohicas speed = 4 km/h

d = initial separation distance = 1 km

 

They arrive at the same point at the same time, so

 

d - vt = ut

1 - 3t = 4t

 

Solve for t and get an answer in hours.
