An inventory of two types of widgets showed a total of 50 widgets with a total value of $1700. If widget A cost $20 each and widget B cost $45 each, how many of each widget was in inventory?

Write two equations:

 

A + B = 50, so B = 50-A

 

20A + 45B = 1700
