Okay, if the equation is parallel to y = 2x+3, then it has the same slope
y = mx + b is the slope-intercept formula for a line. Therefore, the slope, m is 2.
So now you know the slope, substitute it into your new equation:
y = 2x + b
Now, insert the point (5,7) for (x,y)
7 = 2(5) + b
7 = 10 + b
b = -3
Therefore the equation you are looking for is:
y = 2x - 3
