Triangle Troubles

Question

One angle in a triangle is half the largest angle, but three times the smallest. Find all three angles.

the angles are x,y, and z

 

x = (1/2)y

 

so y = 2x

 

x = 3z

 

so  z = (1/3)x

 

x + y + z = 180

 

x + 2x + (1/3)x = 180

 

(3 1/3)x = 180

 

x = 54º

 

y = 108º

 

z = 18º
