This is true. Orcas, which are actually the largest species of dolphin, are able to intentionally beach themselves in order to catch prey that is located on the beach. This is commonly seen in orcas in Argentina; they have learned to propel themselves onto the beach to catch seals. The orcas are then able to return to the water by twisting their bodies and pumping the peduncle muscle near the tail.
