If you mix 2 gallons of green paint with 3 gallons of white paint, you would get 5 gallons of light green paint. By adding white, you change the value or shade of the green. The more white added, the lighter the shade of green. Also, not all greens are the same, so if you had a bluish green, and add white, you would end up with a different color had you started with a yellowish green and added the same amount of white. If you have equal amounts of two shades of green, then add the s1 part white to two each green, you will have the ssame value of a different shade of green. Now, if you add 2 parts white, then 3 parts white, then 4 parts white and so on, this would be called equal step progression of the colors.
Thanks,
Eddie
