asked 02/12/18If the positive integers 15,9,5,7 and x have a mean and median that are identical, what is the value of x?
I don't know the answer as well as the solution to this problem.

15+9+7+5+x=(36+x)=5a, a is mean
if 0<x<7, then median = 7 and a =7 but (36+x)>35.
So x should be not less then 7.
if x>9, then median=9 and a=9 AND (36+x)=45 (=5a), iff x=9
if 7<x<9, then meadian=x=mean (36+x)=5a
So the answer is x=9.
if 7<x<9, then meadian=x=mean (36+x)=5a
So the answer is x=9.
In this case we have 5,7,9,9,15
Median =9= Mean.
