The key on a question like this is to find a way to relate the variables to one another based on the underlying information given to us as part of the question. On this one we have

A = 3/5B

B = 1/4C

Which can be combined to get

A = 3/5(1/4C)

A = 3/20C

What that means is that A is 3/20 x 100% = 15% of C

The trick to solving these sorts of problems is to substitute equivalent values for one another.  We know that A = 3/5 B and that B = 1/4 C, but we want to know what the relation is between A and C.  Since we know how A and C are both related to B, however, we can use what we know about B to "bridge" the gap between A and C using the following steps:

 

   1.)  A = 3/5 B

   2.)        B = 1/4 C

   3.)  A = 3/5 (1/4 C)

 

Now it's just a matter of simplifying -- we can pretty easily calculate 3/5 * 1/4 = 3/20, so we know the following:

 

   A = 3/20 C

 

Finally, because 3/20 = 0.15 = 15%, we can represent A = 3/20 C in the following percentage terms:

 

   A = 15% of C

 

And, at long last, we have our answer!
