Let's not get into the subject of measuring angels.
It would help a lot if the question told us whether the 2x external angle measurement is for a base angle, or the vertex angle. Perhaps that's the conundrum that we're supposed to consider.
Case I. External angle of base angle measures 2x; therefore each base angle measures 180o - 2x.
Therefore the vertex angle + both base angles totals 180: 360 - 4x +v = 180.
Conclusion: vertex angle measures 4x-180.
Case II. 2x is the measure of the external angle at the vertex. Why don't you play around with this to determine what EACH BASE ANGLE would be?
