What am I missing?

This problem doesn't seem solvable to me.

Given the following points, predict the missing number. (3,8) (6,6) (7,8) (9,12) (12, ?)

Choices: 6, 3, 7, 9, 12

3,8 to 6,6  has a negative slope and then 6.6 to 7,8 to 12,12 have a positive slope so I fail to see how they can all be on a straight line.

I didn't say all the points were on the same straight line. I said (3,8) and (6,6) are on a straight line. I should have then said that (6,6), (7,8), and (9,12) are on a different straight line whose equation is y=2x-6.
Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Arthur -- I like your second answer, very perceptive - I never saw that pattern. Your first answer seems a bit of a stretch to me.  Best wishes.
