We can multiply the entire equation by the LCD once again in this problem! :)

 

3 * [(x- 3)/3 + 2x = -1]

 

x-3 + 6x = -3

 

7x = 0

 

x=0

 

If you are unsure that the answer for x is correct or not, try plugging it back into the equation:

 

(0-3)/3 + 2(0) = -1

 

-3/3 + 0 = -1

 

-1 = -1
