I am having trouble simplifying this type of expression. Please help me simplify and show all steps. thanks in advance for your assistance

This looks like we may have to FOIL to simplify this, so we will distribute and multiply by each and every term:

 

= (2x^2 + 3xy - 5y^2) (2x^2 + 3xy - 5y^2)

 

= 4x^4 + 6x^3y - 10x^2y^2 + 6x^3y + 9x^2y^2 - 15 xy^3 - 10x^2y^2 - 15xy^3 - 25y^4

 

= 4x^4 + 12x^3y - 11x^2y^2 - 30xy^3 - 25y^4
