Line segment and Endpoint problem

One endpoint of a line segment is (-7, 2). The midpoint of the line segment is (-1, -2). What are the co-ordinates of the other endpoint?

Answer 1

We start at (-7, 2)

Midpoint is  (-1, -2)

 

Difference in x:  (-1-(-7)) = +6

x coordinate was raised by 6

 

Difference in y:  (-2-2) = -4

y coordinate went down by 4

 

Go the same distances from the midpoint

to get to the other end:

Endpoint: (-1+6, -2-4) = (5, -6)
