help me solve the following for x 3x=7-5x

hello I am having problems solving these problems "

when 4 added to one half the number x, the result is the same as if 2 had been subtracted from the number x. I need to find which of the following expresses this relationship

• X + 4 = x -2
• 1/2X = 4 = 2-x
• 1/2X + 4 = x-2 I feel this is the answer not sure can you help me 
• 1/2X = 4 1/2X -2

First, get all the x's together, by adding or subtracting the same term from both sides of the equation, to keep it balanced:  Let's add 5x to both sides:  3x + 5x = 7 - 5x + 5x

Do the addition:  8x = 7

Now get x by itself:  divide both sides of the equation by 8:  8x/8 = 7/8.  Now x = 7/8

"...result is the same as..." means equals (=)

"2 had been subtracted from the number x":   x - 2
