i pay someone 12.00 an hour but it includes the 15.3 payroll tax. how much am i really paying per hour and how much is the tax.

please help.,,i thought the 7.84 was the wage and 1.99 was the tax but that doesn't equal 12.00. 

15.3n=12.00

12.00/153=1.99

It is asking a different question now.

 

Let b = pay rate before the 15.3% tax is applied.  Then

 

b + 0.153b = 12.00

 

1.153b = 12.00

 

b = 12.00/1.153 ≅ 10.41

 

The pre-tax rate is 10.41, and 15.3% of that is

 

0.153 x 10.41 ≅ 1.59

 

Note the two add up to 12.00
