This is Trinomial. Polynomial of Degree 2.
Maximum Statement can have is 3, 1 more than the degree of the polynomial , highest power of X
To solve this you always should be factored into binomial of its root.
To Solve
12 X^2 + 10X -3 = 0 12 * 3 = 36 = 2 *18 = 4 *9 = 12*3 , You see that none of these factors
12 X^2 + 10X -3 = 0 12 * 3 = 36 = 2 *18 = 4 *9 = 12*3 , You see that none of these factors
difference is +10 , so the quadratics
doesn't have a rational roots,use
quadratic formula as given by
others to solve.
Problem asked you to factor, not use the quadratic formula:
12 X^2 + 10X - 3 =
12( X^2/12 + 10/ 12 X- 3/12) =
12 ( X^2/12 + 5/6 X -3/12 + 25/144 - 25/144) =
12 ( X + 5/ 12 ) ^2 - 61/144)
12 ( X + 5/12 - √61/12) ( X + 51/12 + √61/12)
So this is factoring by completing the square.

I love math and so will you
Using the quadratic equation: [-b ±√(b2-4ac)]/2a where a = 12, b = 10 and -3 = c.
