Divide by –2:

 

15x^2 – 4x + 3 = 0 is Standard Form

a(x–h)^2+k = 0 is Vertex Form

ax^2–2ahx+ah^2+k = 0 is Expanded Vertex Form

15x^2 – 4x + 3 = 0 is Standard Form

 

So a=15, -2(15)h=-4, h=2/15, 15(2/15)^2+k=3, k=3-4/15=41/15

 

15(x–2/15)^2+41/15 = 0

 

(x–2/15)^2 = –41/(15^2)

 

|x–2/15| = √(–41)/15 = i √(41)/15

 

x–2/15 = ± i √(41)/15

 

x = 2/15 ± i √(41)/15 = (2 ± i √(41))/15

Multiply by -1 to the equation,we get

30x^2-8x+6=0

divide by 2,

15x^2-4x+3=0

 

Using Quad eq formula,If quad eq ax^2+bx+c=0 then x= -b+square root of( b^2-4ac) / 2a

                                                                                          or

                                                                               x= -b-sq root of( b^2-4ac) / 2a

substituting the values of a=15, b=-4, c=3

 

x= +4+sq root of( 16-180)/ 30       or     x= +4 - sq root of (16-180) /30

 

  = 4+sq root of -164/30            or       x =4-sq root of -164/ 30

  =4+sq root of(4*-41)/30                     x=4- sq root of (4*-41)/30

  =2(2+sq root of -41)/30                    x= 2(2- sq root of -41/ 30

  =2+sq root of 41* -1/15                    x = 2-sq root of 41 * -1/15

Ans:  x=(2+sq root of 41* i) /15                        x =(2-sq root of 41 * i) / 15..............using sq root of -1= i.
