The standard form of a line is written in the form: Ax + By = C
With the two points (1,4) and (2,5), we can calculate the slope, then plug in the slope and either of the two points into the point-slope formula to get the equation of the line.
With the two points (1,4) and (2,5), we can calculate the slope, then plug in the slope and either of the two points into the point-slope formula to get the equation of the line.
m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
m = (5 - 4) / (2 - 1)
m = 1 / 1
m = 1
You only have to pick one of the two points, they will both give you the same answer:
y - y1 = m (x - x1)
y - (4) = (1) (x - (1))
y - 4 = x - 1
y = x + 3
-x + y = 3
y - y1 = m (x - x1)
y - (4) = (1) (x - (1))
y - 4 = x - 1
y = x + 3
-x + y = 3
