Solve a system of equations

2x+5y=1

-3x+y=7

1) Multiply second equation -3x+y=7 by -5 to get a new equivalent equation.

For instance if equation is -x + 2y =10 then when you multiply it by -5 you get 5x-10y=-50

2) Add new equation from step 1 to the first equation in the system to get rid of the y. By doing this you will be able to get the value of x.

3) Substitute the value of x into the first (or the second) equation in the system to get the value of y.
