During 2004, the top two grossing north america concert tours featured Prince and Celine Dion. Together the two singers performed 250 shows. Celine Dion gave 58 more shows than Prince. How many shows were included in each tour?

If you let x represent the number of shows Prince performed and you know that Celine Dion performed 58 more shows than:

Prince=x  and

Celine=x+58

 

Together they equal 250 shows so:

 

x+x+58=250

 

Solve for x

 

2x+58=250

2x=192

x=96

 

So Prince performed 96 shows because he was represented by x

and just plug that 96 into Celine's equation to know how many shows she performed

 

96+58=154
