Total spent would be how much he spent on shorts + how much he spent on pants + how much he spent on the blazer
Cost of shorts is s and he bought 6 so 6 times s is amount spent on shorts 6s
Cost of pants is p and he bought 2 so 2 times p is the amount spent on pants. 2p
The cost of the blazer is 3 times the cost of the shorts. The cost of the shorts is s so the blazer cost 3s. He only bought 1 blazer so the amount spent on the blazer is 3s.
So back to Total Spent
That would be the amount spent on shorts + amount spent on pants + amount spent on the blazer
6s + 2p + 3s
Combine like terms
9s +2p
They asked for an expression. Expressions do not have equal marks. So the answer is just 9s + 2p
