Pam owns an electronics store with storage capacity for 100 computer tablets. She currently has 80 computer tablets in inventory and determines that they are selling at a daily rate equal to 17% of the available capacity. When will Pam sell out of computer tablets? She is selling 17 per day ... 17% of 100 = 17

 

Letting x = # days until sold out

selling 17 per day with 80 to sell we have:

17x = 80

x = 80/17

x = 4.71 days

 

She will finish selling out the 80 on hand in 5 days

17(4) = 68 in the 4 days, 12 on day 5
