The intolerable acts were instituted mainly against Massachusetts in order to isolate Massachusetts from the other colnies. Britain believed that the use of force would quell the growing feeling of resentment throughout the colonies. Unfortunately for Britain, the acts caused the colonies to become more unified as they moved closer to revolution.
