Question

A cab company charges a base rate of $2.00 plus 20 cents per minute. Let y be the cost in dollars of using the cab for x minutes. Find the slope-intercept form of the equation

Equation of slope is y = mx + c. Since y is in dollars here we have to build the equation in dollars.Therefore m here is 0.20 and c i.e. y intecept is 2.00. 

 

Hence equations is y = 0.20x + 2

Slope-intercept form is y = mx + b

For x = 0, y = 2

y = 0.20x + 2.00
