A. Use the associative and commutatitive properties to rearrange the factors.
B. Find the product. Write the product in standard form.

Rearrange:

 

(3.4)(3.8)(10⁵)(10^-9)

 

(3.4)(3.8) = 12.92

 

(10⁵)(10^-9) = 10^-4

 

So now you have 12.92 x 10^-4

 

Move the decimal one to the left to get 1.292, but now you must change the -4 to a -3 because you already moved it one place to the left.

 

1.292 x 10^-3   = .001292
