5x-7 = -4x where x=2, then all you need to do is plug in x=2.
5(2)-7 = -4(2)
You'll follow Order of Operations to solve- PEMDAS (Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiply, Divide, Add, and Subtract). You don't have any distributing to do, nor do you have any exponents. We start by multiplying.
So...
Multiply: 5(2)-7 = -4(2)
Subtract: 10 - 7 = -8
3 = -8
(no solution - x cannot equal 2)
