If you inspect the Volume formulas for Prism & Pyramid, you will see that the latter formula has a factor of 1/3--the rest of the formulas is the same (namely Base Area • height). Consequently a pyramid having the same base as a prism will have only one third of the volume of the prism, if the two have identical heights.
A similar remark pertains to Cylinder & Cone.
