Find at least three ordered pairs that satisfies the equation 2x-3y=12

Often, the y-intercept (the value of y when x=0) and the x-intercept (the value of x when y=0) are easy to find.  Two points are enough to graph a line.  An easy third point depends on the equation.

 

So,   (0,-4)    [y-intercept]

        (6,0)     [x-intercept]

        (3,-2)     [note: the midpoint of the above two points]

2x-3y=12

=> -3y=12-2x .... subtracting 2x from both sides

=> y= -4+(2/3)x .... dividing both sides by -3

 

          x        | x = 3 | x=0 | x=-3

y= -4+(2/3)x|  y =-2 |y=-4| y=-6

 

Thus ordered pairs are (3,-2), (0, -4), (-3,-6) 

 

The resultant graph is a straight line passing through the above points.
