I read 20 pages on Monday. The next day I read 35 pages. By the end of the week I read a total of 77 pages. How many pages did I read on the 3rd day?

Between Monday and Tuesday you read 20+35 = 55 pages.

During the remainder of the week you read 22 pages to make

it to 77 pages.

 

The trouble is the problem doesn't say how many total days in

the week you read.  Was the 22 pages read in 1 day or over the

course of several days?
