You first calculate your bus fare from/to home. Since you pay $1.50 each way you would have to pay $1.50 twice during the day. $1.50+$1.50=$3.00
Then you add your $3.00 bus fare to your intended profit for the day ($117) to calculate the amount that you need to earn for the entire day. $117+$3.00=$120
When you figure out that you would need to make $120 for the day to take home $117 at the end of the day, you can determine how many hours you need to work.
You then take the $120 that you need to make for the day and divide that by the $20 you make an hour to determine the necessary work hours. $120/$20=6HRS
You can then see that you would need to work 6/Hrs at $20 per hour to make $120.
6HRS×$20 per HR=$120- $3.00 (bus fare) = $117
