The largest fish ever caught in Lake A weighed 650 pounds. This is 321.2 pounds less than eight times the weight of the largest fish ever caught in Lake B. Find the weights of the largest fish caught in Lake B

 

i am not sure how to solve this problem

Largest fish ever caught in Lake B     Wb= x pounds.  (unknown)

 

 

Wa  is  321.2 pounds less than 8 times Wb

 

Wa= 8 Wb - 321.2 

 

Now solve for Wb, by adding 321.2 in both sides of the equation and then dividing 8 

 

8Wb =(Wa+321.2)

 

Wb= (Wa+321.2)/8

 

We know that Wa= 650 pounds.

 

Wb = (650+321.2)/8   

 

Wb=121.4 pounds   (Weight Largest fish ever caught in Lake B )
