There were five important philosophers during the Enlightenment in the 1600s. They emphasized the rights to life, property, and freedom. These philosophers were John Locke, Thomas Hobbes, Baron de Montesquieu, Jean Jacks Rousseau, and Voltaire. They were influenced because of how the governments mistreated the people who served them. Remember the age of the monarchy, when the king had absolute power and the people who served him had barely any freedom?
These philosophers led to the people's revolution against their governments.
