How many two or three letter fraternity names cane be formed from the 24 letters of the greek alphabet allowing repeats in any name?

We'll first find the number of 2-letter names and then the number of 3-letter names and then add these two results for our answer.

 

Number of 2-letter names from 24 letters
(allowing for repeat of letters):  24 x 24 = 576

 

Number of 3-letter names from 24 letters

(allowing for repeat of letters):  24 x 24 x 24 = 13,824

 

Total number of names = 576 + 13,824 = 14,400
