Solve (x - 4)  =  (x + 6)
            7              6

(x-4)/7 = (x+6)/6  

 

Cross multiply to get  

 

6*(x-4) = 7*(x+6)

6*x - 24 = 7*x + 42

-x = 66

x = -66  

 

Check:  (-66-4)/7 = -70/7 = -10

            (-66+6)/6 = -60/6 = -10
