We can use the formula or work.
W = Fd
where:
W = work
F = force
d = elongation of spring
Since the elongation changes in the spring, so does the work done on the spring. So we must find the difference of work according to the elongation.
W13 in - W8 in = (14 lb)(13 in) - (14 lb)(8 in)
= 14 lb (13 in - 8 in)
= (14 lb) (5 in)
= 70 lb in
The work done is 70 lb in.

We know that lb is consistant, so we don't have to worry about the unit for force. The unit for length are different because we have
in and ft.
12 in = 1 foot
(70 lb-in)(12) = 840 lb-ft

I need to make a correction from my last comment.
Multiply 70 by 1/12.
(70 lb-in) = (70 lb) * (1/12) ft = 8.33 lb-ft
