how do i find the number of real number solutions to an equation if there is no b value? All the equations I know for finding this need a b value.

I need help becauuse i have a test retake tomorrow, got a 71 first time, really dont want to screw this up please help

example problem: -4=x^2-5

additional problem on my test retake i dont know answer to: -4=x^2+2x

Are you talking about quadratic equations?

 

ax^2+bx+c=0 leads to the solution x=(-b+/-sqrt(b^2-4ac))/2a

 

If there is no b value or in other words no x-term then b=0.
