Square both sides
4z + 1 = 9 + 4z - 2 + 6√(4z - 2)
4z + 1 = 7 + 4z + 6√(4z - 2)
1 = 7 + 6√(4z - 2)
-6 = 6√(4z - 2)
-1 = √(4z - 2) square both sides
1 = 4z - 2
3 = 4z
3/4 = z
