I love to tutor and am excited to find myself with enough time to take on a small number of students. I graduated from MIT and am currently working on a start-up part time and at MIT as an instructor. I miss the one-on-one academic environment and am keen to share some of my knowledge. I would like to teach math (through BC calculus), science (physics, chemistry, biology, environmental), engineering (mechanical, electrical) or history (modern European or US). I could also help you prepare for the AP exams (I took a number of them and received a string of 5s, even for tests where I did not take the class) or SATs / ACT (I got a 35/36 on the ACT and 800 on SAT II for writing, SAT II for Math II). For the standardized tests, I particularly enjoy working with students so that they can feel like the primary point of the test is to figure out how the test is trying to trick them so that it can turn into more of a game and less of a chore.
I present regularly for work before small audiences (5-10 folks) as well as large (my record so far is more than 4,500!). Public and motivational speaking is one of my favorite ways to spend time. I would be happy to do some coaching in this area as well, either generally or in run-up to a specific event.
I am particularly good at working with a student for a small number of sessions to prepare for a particular exam, get them caught up in a course or debug their learning style. I have worked with elementary, middle and high school students both while in high school and during university. I also worked as a teaching assistant and ran a series of classes during MIT's Independent Activities Period (IAP) for other students, faculty and staff.
