About Grant

I am a MA licensed middle school math teacher of 20+ years, and I have tutored countless math students from grades 7-12. I may be the most patient math teacher students will ever have, and I try to not just show math skills, but help students understand the language of math in general and algebra in particular. I have worked successfully with students of all abilities, and my students (and their parents) tell me they are so relieved to finally understand math and not be made to feel dumb or lazy for not understanding. Confidence can be very powerful.

I tutor Algebra, Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, and SAT prep. I work in Acton and Concord and surrounding towns around the Metrowest.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have many years of success teaching and tutoring algebra to students of varying ages. I have developed a lot of expertise in observing, questioning and listening to students to understand their specific problem areas, and then address them in a way that helps students not just learn, but truly understand the algebra language.

Algebra 2

I have many years of success teaching and tutoring algebra to students of varying ages. I have developed a lot of expertise in observing, questioning and listening to students to understand their specific problem areas, and then address them in a way that helps students not just learn, but truly understand the algebra language. This is especially important as Algebra 2 moves into more advanced topics that are harder to grasp merely with prior math knowledge.

Prealgebra

I have many years of success teaching and tutoring pre-algebra to middle school students. I have developed a lot of expertise in observing, questioning and listening to students to understand their specific problem areas, and then address them in a way that helps students not just learn, but truly understand the algebra language.
