Bio

I am a MA licensed middle school math teacher of 20+ years, and I have tutored countless math students from grades 7-12. I may be the most patient math teacher students will ever have, and I try to not just show math skills, but help students understand the language of math in general and algebra in particular. I have worked successfully with students of all abilities, and my students (and their parents) tell me they are so relieved to finally understand math and not be made to feel dumb or...

I have worked successfully with students of all abilities, and my students (and their parents) tell me they are so relieved to finally understand math and not be made to feel dumb or lazy for not understanding. Confidence can be very powerful.

I tutor Algebra, Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, and SAT prep. I work in Acton and Concord and surrounding towns around the Metrowest.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have many years of success teaching and tutoring algebra to students of varying ages. I have developed a lot of expertise in observing, questioning and listening to students to understand their specific problem areas, and then address them in a way that helps students not just learn, but truly understand the algebra language.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have many years of success teaching and tutoring algebra to students of varying ages. I have developed a lot of expertise in observing, questioning and listening to students to understand their specific problem areas, and then address them in a way that helps students not just learn, but truly understand the algebra language. This is especially important as Algebra 2 moves into more advanced topics that are harder to grasp merely with prior math knowledge.

Knowledge and Kind

Grant is an excellent tutor and his teaching style really helps students to understand math concepts. He has given my son confidence in his math ability and has helped him maintain an A in his honors algebra 2 class. He's also super nice and easy to communicate with. I highly recommend Grant!

Knowledgeable and pleasant tutor

Grant arrived on Super Bowl Sunday to review Algebra I and II with my 10th grader. He analyzed the student's deficiencies and designed a plan to move forward. He is smart, patient and very, very pleasant. It is a privilege to have him as a tutor.

Lesson #2: Excellent

Excellent, excellent teacher! Gives confidence to my daughter to do well. Thank you for being thorough, listen to her trouble subject areas and explain in a manner she can understand and apply concepts

Effective & engaging for honors HS math student

My 9th grader is greatly benefitting from working with Grant. Grant has been effective, clear, very helpful -and my son says he is learning a lot and this is time well spent. High praise from mom and son!

Really brought up grades

Grant has been working with my daughter for only a few sessions and already her geometry grades have significantly improved! His style of teaching is very effective and very informed.

Very nice and helpful tutor.

I like how Grant was open to working on anything I felt I needed help with, rather than coming with a strict plan. He helped me understand about 4 units of math in only one session.

Polynomials and FOILing

What we love about Grant is that he previews the lessons that are coming for our son. He says, "Grant explains things in easy to understand terms." Thank you, Grant!!!

Thank you Grant!!

I reached out to Grant at the last minute because my son was lost on a new concept. He not only made time for him, he made time on a weekend and really got him up to speed so that he was able to go back to school on Monday in much better shape than when he left on Friday. Grant has got a great way of working with my son - gently pushing him to work out the answers out. I would HIGHLY recommend Grant!

Grant is helping my dayghter with Algebra 2. He is always responsive and has a nice rapport with her. He communicates in as manner that she understands while being very encouraging. He has a nice sense of humor which she appreciates. He helped her last year in Geometry and helped her bring her grade up by a letter grade.
