About Mark

Bio

I have a Sc. B. degree in Applied Math / Economics from Brown University. I recently retired from teaching, having taught for 20 years- most of them at Concord Academy in MA, an independent college-prep school. My experience is mostly with high schoolers, though I have tutored some college students in statistics and multi-variable calculus.

I have taught high school for 20 years, teaching all levels of high-school and some college-level math, as well as economics. I have had much experience working one-on-one with my students and have also done some tutoring of people who were not in my classes.

I emphasize deep understanding and problem-solving skills and try to make the material intuitive to students. My experience clearly indicates that confidence is essential, so I work carefully to help my students become more confident in their abilities.

Excellent and knowledgeable tutor

Mark helped my daughter in rectangular and polar coordinates among other topics. He broke things down to a level where it was very easy for her to understand. His many years of teaching this subject show through in his delivery and patience. I would whole-heartedly recommend him to others and will continue to schedule classes with him in the future.
