When should I take the LMSW exam?

Give yourself just enough time to prepare, but no more. The reason for this is that most of your test prep occurred during your Master of Social Work program. The closer to your graduation date that you can take the exam, the better, so that the material will be fresh in your mind. In other words, don’t put this off with the expectation that it will get easier. I recommend giving yourself about a month to study, and no more than 3 months.
