Each state or provincial board of social work sets its own standards for social work licensure at various levels. The ASWB Master’s Level social work licensing exam, for example, is typically required for social workers who are applying for licensure after they have completed a MSW degree but who have not yet accumulated clinical hours.
Unfortunately, many social workers struggle with passing this exam. According to the most recent data available, approximately 75% of test takers pass this exam on their first attempt. That leaves, unfortunately, one quarter of exam candidates who have to retake the exam, or who may give up on licensure altogether.
Still, three quarters of social workers have been able to pass this exam the first time, and I want to make sure that you can join them (and perhaps increase that number)!
