Core musculature is grouped into local and global stabilization systems. The local core stabilizers consist of transverse abdominals, internal obliques, multifidus, and pelvic floor musculature. The global stabilization muscles include quadratus lumborum, psoas major, external obliques, some of the internal oblique, rectus abdominis, gluteus medius, and adductor complex.
