Effective English Tutor Specializing in Reading and Public Speaking
Hi Asheli and the Readers,
Public Speaking is an act that needs a few essential qualities regarding our presentation,
- Knowledge of Content,
- Contextual Comfort,
- Knowing your audience
Knowledge of the Content: The stuff you present may not be new. For instance, life coaches say many things that are allegorical, ethical, and moralistic that we know already. Then why are we interested and paying clients to them? The answer is their way of articulating. How you say is more important than What you say. And so, building a relatable story that shows some results testimony of the bearer is given more weightage.
Contextual Comfort/ Comfortable on Stage: Most of us undergo a tremendous wave of nervousness when we are on the stage, especially in a novel setting in front of a high-esteem audience. Now, in that case, you are scared, nervous, and hold a fear of rejection. Your mind is already supplying you with images of people frowning at you, laughing at you, or just busy within themselves when you are speaking something.
These images are from the demons of your mind who stop you from doing anything beyond that you have tried, so shut it down. Switch on the mode where you order the devil to get locked in a jail, smile at him and ask the mental fairy to visualize people smiling with you, nodding at you, crying with you, and clapping with you. be the best version of yourself. Live up your stage. Ignite it.
Knowing Your Audience: To gain confidence on stage, start by addressing small groups of people and extend your boundaries.
Never underestimate your audience or yourself, be well prepared.
Dress well, wear your favourite watch/bracelet, take the most beautiful notes diary, clean your laptop (if carrying), and wear the best pair of shoes (Comfort is a must).
Pl.note: Your Character traits have taken you to the stage to be the "centre stage" or prime presenter; next is your preparedness. The more you expose yourself to the 'stage' well prepared, the better you will get with presentation and public speaking.
